Sue Knaup didn’t just talk to
U.S. Congressman Rick Renzi (R-AZ) about improvements for bicycling and walking along
White Spar Road in Prescott, AZ she worked directly with ADOT engineer Alvin Stump to complete the “transportation
enhancement” application to fund the improvements.

Sue Knaup, Prescott Alternative Transportation, shows
Congress Rick Renzi some points from the "America Bikes, America Benefits"
policy book.
The Congressman, on a multi-stop visit to Prescott,
was on his way to speak at the Republican Women’s luncheon when Sue approached
him to discuss
improvements to White Spar Road. She pointed out that the road carries many cyclists and pedestrians,
but the combination of
narrow travel lanes and fast moving traffic make conditions unsafe.
The enhancements application calls for sidewalks on both
sides of the road in addition to five foot wide shoulders on each side to
accommodate bicyclists. The bike lanes and sidewalk improvements on White Spar
Road will connect
with similar improvements carried out or in planning within the City of Prescott.
Congressman Renzi has committed to making improvements on
White Spar a top transportation priority.
