Frequently Asked Questions
What’s going on, and when?
Both the House and Senate are about to vote on their versions of the transportation bill. See our timeline for a detailed description of when and where the legislation is moving.
What is the America Bikes coalition doing about it?
The House bill is very bad for walking and biking, and we are pushing for representatives to vote "NO" on HR 7 on the floor.
The Senate bill, while not as bad, is detrimental to walking and biking. We are pushing for senators to vote to support the Cardin Amendment on the floor, which would give a voice to local governments in transportation decisions, allowing them to build sidewalks, crosswalks, and bikeways.
How can I help?
So glad you asked! There are two big ways you can help save our streets in Congress.
- By asking your senators to support the Cardin-Cochran Amendment.
- By asking your representative to vote "NO" on HR 7.
